On receipt of satisfactory pre-employment checks your Resourcing Assistant will contact your new employee to arrange a start date in line with Trust Induction.
All new starters must attend Trust Induction as the first day of employment with the Trust. In addition, new starters may be expected to complete mandatory training, the Care Certificate and Restrictive Physical Interventions Training (C&R).
A typical induction programme would be as follows:
Day 1 – Trust Induction
Day 2 – Local induction at place of work (ensure new starter form completed on Simple Saf)
Days 3 – 5 – Mandatory Training
New starters with previous NHS experience will be asked to provide evidence that they have completed mandatory training with their previous employer. Where possible, credit will be given for prior study and the staff member’s mandatory training record updated to show their competence when they join our trust.
All new starters in Bands 1 – 4 clinical roles (unless they have completed the Care Certificate previously).
C & R Training
All new starters working on inpatient wards in clinical roles.
Trust Induction will be held twice per month.
First impressions count and the experience candidates and new starters receive makes a huge difference to their working life with the Trust.
Induction (also known as on-boarding) is a critical part of bringing a new starter into the Trust, helping them feel an emotional connection to the Trust and feel welcomed, valued and excited about their new role.
A checklist to help you welcome a new member of staff to your team has been developed by the resourcing team.
